Pikliz

The pikliz as it is called would have taken its name from the English “pickles” pickles is synonymous with a mixture of raw vegetables macerated in vinegar just like Haitian pikliz. Haitian pikliz is a mixture of cabbage, carrot, lime pepper, and vinegar. It is the perfect combination for all kinds of fries; griot, fried chicken,fried plantain , french fries, rice etc. Pikliz is part of Haitian and Caribbean authenticity and occupies a permanent place in their fridge. Some consume it over a period of several days, several weeks, or even months after its preparation. It is proven that fermented cabbage, pikliz as eaten in Haiti, remains a good source of provitamin A, vitamin B, vitamin C, valuable minerals, and contains anti-atherogenic, and anticarcinogenic, among other medicinal properties.
